October was a weird month. We had some seriously fall-ish days at the end of the month, with the expected swampy weather and gorgeous foliage. But really, the month started out more like end-of-summer vibes; unusually warm days and cool evenings, tons of green still adorning all the leaves and ground, and honestly, it felt to me like it was still August those first couple of weeks.
On Ashley + Pat’s wedding day, it really did still feel like summer. The sun was high and warm, it was a little muggy, and the energy of the day was not unlike a day trip to the beach. There seriously wasn’t a single face on their day that wasn’t smiling from ear to ear, and cheering on this beautiful couple.
It started out as a typical day for me; detail shots and the tail-end of getting ready, get the guys together for some light-hearted shots and then head out for a first look. I walked around and decided on a good spot near their ceremony seating and positioned Pat while Ashley made her way down to greet him. And that’s when it really, REALLY sank in for me that these two were going to have an incredible day. Pat was nervous, chatting away about this and that, pacing a little and obviously just so excited to see his bride. I asked him if he was always so fidgety, and he blurted out with the biggest smile “I’M MARRYING MY BEST FRIEND TODAY!!!” Needless to say, their first look was absolutely gorgeous and so touching. We rocked through some portraits, brought over family and the bridal party for more portraits, and rolled right along.
When it was time for the actual ceremony and Ashley came down with her dad, Pat was a mess all over again in all the best ways. He was practically dancing in place with tears in his eyes until she was by his side. Their vows were hand written and heartfelt. Their kiss was magical. Guests cheered and hooted their congratulations as they made their way back and took a breather before the rest of the festivities started. And then… the party began!
Now, I can’t help but stop here and say a few words about this stunning venue and how wonderful their grounds are. The coordinator and staff are fantastic. Everything about the farm was styled so perfectly, right down to the vintage chairs overlooking the stream and all the unique little details and touches throughout the barn for the reception party. Take a look and see for yourself, this was just the most perfect day for Ashley + Pat to begin their happily ever after.
