Melissa + Kevin @ Columbia Station

These two. There are so many wonderful things to say about Melissa and Kevin, I’m not even sure where to start… They’re simply HAPPY. Like really, really enjoyably positive people whose infectious smiles and laughter rub off on everyone around them. Spending time together has seriously been amazing, and capturing both their engagement session last year and their wedding just a few weeks ago still has my heart filled to the brim with crazy-awesome memories of the kind of joy they have. I had photographed the wedding of Kevin’s brother last year (who happen to be wonderful friends of mine), and I’ll be photographing Kevin’s sister’s wedding next year too. I feel like I’m a part of the family, which is so amazing!

My time with their wedding day story began in the little local salon Melissa was having her hair and makeup done at, and she was all giggles and grins with her girls. It was awesome! We traveled along to her home where her best friends in the whole world got ready, and I got to take a peek around and fall in love with her a little more while I grabbed some detail shots of her jewelry and shoes and sentimental pieces. Everyone else was rushing about behind me, taking care of this or that, and I moved about doing my thing with the sounds of anticipation and excitement just floating around me. From there I headed out to meet the guys at the hotel they were getting ready at, and I found Kevin just as bubbly and excited. Seriously. So fun! His brother/Best Man was busying himself tying crazy-impressive tie knots and the entire energy there was bursting with love for Kevin. Every guy in the room was just as pumped for this day as he was.

After finishing up there, I headed off to The Columbia Station to await everyone’s arrival and let me tell you, what a stunning venue it is! Indoors and out, every detail is teeming with historic charm and timeless, elegant touches. The bridal suite is a delightfully appointed and restored antique caboose set along a little set of tracks that were disconnected from the Reading Railroad long ago. There’s a beautiful little grove nearby where the ceremony site is set up, with a gorgeous old stone wall flanking one side. Just across the way is the railroad passenger station, turned into an incredible reception space with two-story ceiling ballrooms and bar spaces. Every face I met there was friendly and accommodating, and the energy was just as it should be when serving such a special event.

Take a peek at some of my favorite moments throughout my time with Kevin + Melissa on their big day. This was truly one to remember.
